What to expect from your session
ByMika photography offers custom portraiture which means we design the session with you. No two sessions are the same! We will discuss colours, props, location and your wishes for the session prior to booking and the more input you have the more special the end result will be. Each session is done in natural light in our studio or on location. Your session will be relaxed and stress-free. I want everyone to have fun! Our aim is to provide you with natural and relaxed style photos.
After your session ByMika photography carefully selects the images and edits your photos individually. They will be presented to you in a private online gallery for you to choose your images and products. When purchasing a digital package you will receive your images on a gorgeous wooden USB in custom packaging.
Here are some general guidelines as to when to book your session
If you are wanting pictures of your glorious baby bump Mika recommends booking in for around 32+ weeks. You need to have a sizeable bump, but you don’t want to leave it too close to your due date! We offer a great session package for maternity and newborn photos.
We recommend booking your newborn session while you are still expecting! Simply let us know your due date and we will book you accordingly. Newborns are best photographed between 4-14 days old. That is to get those lovely sleepy, curly shots. If that is not possible for you then try to do it before your baby is 3 weeks old.
What to wear
Prior to your newborn session you will be sent information detailing how to best prepare for your shoot.
For a family session we recommend that you wear something comfortable yet stylish. Bold colours or creamy tones are fantastic. For family portraits try not to dress everyone in the same colour but rather in a complimenting colour scheme. Bring accessories along to the shoot as well. Jewelry, flowers, a nice blanket/rug and scarves are a great way of adding texture to a photo. If your child has a favourite teddy or something else that’s special to you and your family, please bring it along to your session. You are welcome to bring several different wardrobe changes to your session.
Stay away from logos and busy patterns, but a pop of color can add visual interest to your photo. Think about where you will be placing your photos and what colors would look best in that room. We are always happy to give wardrobe suggestions if needed.
