The Experience
BOOK IN
To book in your session simply fill out the contact form above and we will get in touch. Once your session fee has been paid we will send you an email to confirm your booking.
BEFORE YOUR SESSION
For newborn sessions we will pencil you in based on your due date. Once you notify us that baby has arrived we will schedule a date and time for you to come into the studio.
SESSION DAY
Newborn sessions take place in our beautiful fully equipt studio in Carine. There is no need to bring anything but just your family and newborn baby.
VIEWING & ORDERING
Approximately 1-2 weeks following your session is the fun part – the viewing appointment. Here you will see your carefully selected photos for the first time.
COLLECT & ENJOY
Around 2-3 weeks after your images have been finalised, your fine art products will be ready to collect from the studio and hang on your walls!
Meet the photographer
Hi, I'm Mieke (Mika), a Perth based photographer and I am so thrilled that you are considering me to be part of such precious moment in your life. I specialise in maternity, newborn, children and family portraiture. I love everything about babies, children and families.
Before taking up photography as a full-time career, I gained a marketing and visual communication degree and worked as a graphic designer and project manager for several agencies. It was once my children were born that I realized how incredibly important it is to capture memories. Before you know it your little one is about to lose her/his baby fat once they start walking. These special moments in your family are gone by in the blink of an eye but portraits forever tell the story. Your family's story, one you will treasure forever.
Since opening my business in 2012 I have photographed hundreds of babies and their families.
I will be thrilled to work with your family and create memories that you will walk past every day hanging on your walls and you will treasure forever.

Frequently asked questions
When should my newborn be photographed?
Ideally we like to photograph your newborn at around one-two weeks of age (ideally between days 6-14) in order to get the very best out of your session, and to achieve the results you see in my portfolio. Any parent will tell you how quickly your little ones will grow in those first couple of weeks, so it's essential that we capture them as early as we can.
How long does a newborn session go for?
We always take our time with newborns, will never rush a session and take as much time as we need. Newborn sessions can typically therefore take hours to complete. Our aim is to have you feeling completely relaxed and enjoy every moment of your session without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. Newborn sessions tend to average 180 minutes.
What do I need to bring to the session?
You don’t need to bring anything, we have a large range of worldwide sourced props, outfits, wraps, backdrops etc. However if you have something special you’d like to be photographed, please feel free to bring it along.
When do I book a newborn session?
In order to make sure that you secure a booking for your newborn, it is very important to contact us to reserve a date while you are still pregnant. We typically book up months in advance, please book in early to avoid disappointment. After your newborn has arrived, we can schedule the actual time of the shoot. If you book in advance, we guarantee that we’ll have time available for you, no matter if your baby arrives early or late.
Where is the newborn photography session held?
Your newborn session will take place in our beautiful natural light studio located in Carine NOR. It's a wonderful space where you can sit back, have a drink and a snack and relax while we take some beautiful photos of your newborn baby.
Are family photos included in the session?
Yes we always include family and sibling photos.
What is your style?
During the session we aim to get a few beautiful natural photos of your baby and will incorporate a few styled photos as well. We are totally baby-led during the session, your baby is our guide.
